Stillington Archive Commemorates WW1

On 4th August 1914 Britain, and her Empire, were dragged into a conflict with Germany and her allies when the British Government rose protect neutral Belgium in accordance with the Treaty of London.

To commemorate the centenary of this momentous event Stillington and District Community Archive has been further researching men (and women) who served, and survived, The Great War and has set a challenge to showcase forty individuals who have links to Stillington, Marton and Moxby by the 4th August.

Go to the World War 1 page and watch the progress!

Later in the year, on the 22nd October which coincides with The First Battle of Ypres,  there will be the first in a series of talks that will highlight both international events and local men who fought in World War One.
